- Audrey Kelly was born into the restaurant industry, with her parents owning a bagel shop empire in Boulder, CO. Despite her dad trying to dissuade her from going to college, Audrey and her brother both pursued higher education before returning to open their own business.
- In 2015, Audrey opened her own pizzeria, Audrey Jane’s Pizza Garage, which she co-owns with her brother Peter. Peter handles more of the business side while Audrey focuses on the creative aspects. The dough production for the pizzeria is done out of their family’s main bagel commissary.
- Audrey has worked with and learned from pizza legend Tony Gemignani. She praises Tony as an inspiring, humble mentor. Audrey is also the first World Pizza Champion to be a guest on the podcast.
- In recent years, Audrey has had to step back from being as hands-on in her pizzeria due to developing baker’s lung, an allergic reaction to wheat dust. This has been a difficult transition for someone so passionate about pizza making.
- Audrey Jane’s Pizza Garage has been featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives three times. Audrey speaks highly of Guy’s food knowledge and genial personality. The exposure from the show provided a nice bump for her business each time it aired.
